Moving the Boundaries
Chairde Social Action are a youth group in Bundoran, Donegal who hosted a group from Vale Stables in Derry
The objective of this  exchange was to engage young people involved in intercultural learning and to recognise and discuss differences and similarities by confronting both positive and negative stereo types.

Planning
Each organisation put together an Exchange Planning group consisting of staff parents and youth people which met on a regular basis and discuss the exchange project and ideas. The leaders held an Advance Planning visit which enabled sensitive issues to be explored in depth which helped to steer clear of potential trouble sports on the actual exchange.
The groups agreed a Code of Conduct and a contract that all participants signed.

The exchange
After a relatively slow start the group started to break away from their cliques and the simply relaxed, worked together, and took pride in the mixed team work. Through work shops the exchange gave them the chance to grow personally, learn new skills and make new contacts and friends. The group came away with a good self image and everyone left as friends

“Communication is the key to a successful exchange”
